Another week in 2018 is finished. I’m absolutely keeping track because every week we finish is a week closer to midterms. This is something I’m very much looking forward to.
In the meantime, I live my life doing these things.
Reading. Finished The Road Out of Hell and finally started We Were Eight Years in Power. I’m going to need some strong fiction when this one is done. Picked up nothing from the library, NetGalley, and I bought no books.
Watching. I haven’t really watched TV this week but I have Bellevue and the Waco miniseries with Tim Riggins (Taylor Kitsch but I always refer to him as Tim Riggins) as David Koresh in my DVR. Finally got around to watching Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. I have mixed feelings.
Listening. No new podcasts or music this week but I did learn that Shinedown finally finished their 6th album. And now I wait.
Shopping. For a new laptop. I don’t need anything fancy but I really, really hate mine. It still works well when it feels like it but it’s slow and craps out on me a lot. I had originally planned to buy a tablet and a keyboard but for editing, I need something a little more…traditional, I guess is the word I’m looking for. If you have any recommendations or suggestions, send them my way, please.
Planning. My sister’s bridal shower. Correction: the maid of honor is planning it and I’m just doing what she tells me. But if I’m being honest, I’m out of my depths here. There’s so much crafting and planning and hashtagging and I’m too old and uncreative for this. I maintain if I get married again, I’m eloping, I’m doing it at the beach, and there will be no hashtag.
Loving. Despite the fact that I have to deal with Eagles hype (hey, Delaware. WE ARE NOT PHILLY. STOP ACTING LIKE WE ARE), I am over the moon excited that our local humane association is running a deal on adoptable animals 7 months and older, with the dog adoption fee set at $38 and cat adoption fee set at $7 (this was the final score for the playoff game that put them in the Super Bowl. They beat Minnesota 38-7). I think this is so creative, a great way to take something positive (not for me but for many others) and make it even more positive, and encourage shelter animal adoption. I have some reservations but we’re going to focus on the good today.
That’s it for this week. I had contemplated participating in the 24in48 readathon but life got in the way so instead I’ll be getting a haircut and hanging out with my other sister (did you guys know I have 2 sisters and no brothers? And I’m the oldest!) on Saturday and reading all the words on Sunday and celebrating my dad’s birthday from afar. Hope you guys have a great weekend, too!

Love the good that’s coming out of the Eagles going to the Super Bowl. The whole wedding thing is overkill. Steph and Mike Doyle’s wedding on the beach with a beautiful sunset and toes in the sand will always be my favorite wedding. Looking forward to 60 degrees here tomorrow. My legal anniversary with Richie❣️ Happiest birthday to your dad.
Love, Steph’s Momma

Such a great idea to get animals adopted! Love it. And I’m with you on the wedding overkill – I don’t get the whole hashtag thing. And if I could redo my entire wedding, I’d elope. I’m also in the middle of Eight Years in Power and love it so far.

The Waco miniseries is on my DVR, too. Tell me more about Three Billboards. I have seeing it as a possibility for next weekend but since our tastes in media are similar, I’d love to hear if it’s worth my time. I really like my work laptop -it’s Lenovo Thinkpad. I had no say in it but it’s fast and lightweight. Other people’s weddings when you are so far beyond your own get really… hard to get on board with. Like I am happy for you, but you don’t need all of this extra stuff, but you can’t tell them that. I am dealing with that myself right now!

What is 24in48? Too distracted to remember to google when I get a minute.
I had a lenovo laptop forever. solid. Now I have a Surface something or other and it’s good too.
Damn, I didn’t know Tim Riggins was in Waco. I will watch for that. I will investigate how I can see it via Roku.

How is Waco? I’m missing out on the Riggins action because I can’t get that channel. 🙁 How is his singing? lol

I am undecided about Waco. There are some great people in it – Michael Shannon and Taylor Kitsch (who knew a mullet could even make him look unattractive) but I need to avoid shows that involve the government right now. 😀 I’ve never planned a bridal shower and I’m okay with that because I hate all those stupid games you have to play and wouldn’t want to plan them. I want a new iMac because my laptop, like yours, is slower and craps out more frequently than I like and want a desktop for work/home use. But most PC laptops are really good these days and pretty affordable. Have a great weekend!

Pinterest has ruined baby & wedding showers for life now. All the hype to live up to the perfect pinned ones. Yikes

Oh shoot I forgot about Waco
Have you heard the podcast Slowburn ? It is all about Watergate.

I love what your local shelter is doing! That’s a really great idea.
I got married in 2013 and did no hashtags or crazy crafting. We did the things we really wanted to do and said “fuck it” to everything else. Eric doesn’t even use social media (well, he uses Twitter to follow sports stuff, but I don’t know if he’s posted more than a handful of tweets), so he definitely wouldn’t have gotten anything out of hashtagging the event.
I have a MacBook Pro that I love. I’ve had it since 2012, though, so I’ll probably be shopping for a new laptop within the next year or so. I honestly haven’t had any issues with it (God, now that I say that, it’s probably going to die or something), but I would prefer to have something else at the ready for when it’s on its last legs. And, at 6 years old, that could really happen at any time. I’m not sure if you’re leaning towards a PC or a Mac, but after owning a Mac, I wouldn’t want to go back to a PC. (So I guess that tells you what I’ll be considering for my next laptop.)

I recorded Waco, too! I need to get around to finally watching it. I was MOH for my sister and I hated it. There is sooo much pressure for perfection since Pinterest has been around for weddings (and parties in general) and I can never pull off anything like that. Luckily her BFF is super creative and did most of the work. I love the deal from the shelter! I hope it helps adopt out all those animals!
