Every week, Amber over at Airing My Dirty Laundry does a “Hey, It’s Okay Tuesday” linkup where you can talk about anything you want to be okay with and it’s totally fine. I’ve been meaning to do this for longer than I should probably admit but I’m terrible at remembering things and since I’ve remembered this week, we’re participating.
That said, this week it’s completely okay that…
I think Tuesday is a waste of a day that really has no purpose except for bringing me a new episode of Justified (and before that, SOA but let’s not talk about that now).
I am annoyed with all the kids today who don’t know who Missy Elliot is or who Paul McCarthy is. Parents, I blame you. Educate your kids. This is important knowledge.
I unabashedly used the phrase “kids today”. #oldladyspeak #noshame
I hated almost all of the Super Bowl commercials. Holy hell, were they awful this year. Dead kids? Constant pushing of social agendas? Point taken. Ineffective timing. Except for Estelle’s Brilliant Bus. That shit is awesome. That can have all the commercials.
I totally missed a webinar yesterday because I completely forgot about it. Oops.
I’m sitting in my living room, writing this as I watch SouthLAnd, still in my workout clothes that I wore to actually workout (and then proceeded to actually exercise) because I’m too tired and lazy to take a shower.
I’m #sorrynotsorry for all the animal pictures I post on Instagram. Truth be told, they’re pretty much the most interesting part of my life.
I’m over the moon that pitchers and catchers report in roughly 2 weeks. Baseball is almost back and once again everything will be right with the world.
I shared my dust cover summary for my book with my mastermind group and THEY DIDN’T HATE IT!!! Even the guys! And it’s a chick lit book!!! This has me freaked out because now that I know it’s not a terrible idea and people would actually read it, I have to write it.
I crapped the bed on Steph and Stephanie’s Choose Your Own Adventure Challenge this month. More on that this Thursday.
I’m more than excited for next week’s (it’s on Tuesday, 2/10. A week from today) monthly Show Us Your Books linkup that Steph and I host. I read some kick ass books this past month and I want you to know all about them.
How about you guys? What’s okay for you this week?
SMD @ Life According to Steph says
I frequently mean to shower after exercise and then just…don’t. Gross.
I also think my dogs are the most interesting part of my life.
I wish I could’ve stayed at home to read The Girl on the Train today.
I ended up turning the Super Bowl off at one point because the commercials were so depressing. I am glad they aired a domestic violence commercial during it. They should’ve upped those.

Jana says
The domestic violence one was the only one that didn’t piss me off (besides Estelle’s Brilliant Bus). And I love that the NFL paid for the production of it and didn’t charge for the air time.
I’m something like 235th on the waiting list for that book. GRRR.
Kelli says
I liked the “Like A Girl” commercial, it was so interesting to see what girls thought “like a girl” meant before society told them differently.
Kids need to know all that music stuff, so far Little K’s favorite is Michael Jackson. 🙂

I liked that commercial a lot, and, as the mom of a girl, thought it had a crucial message. I just don’t know that I loved using the Super Bowl as a platform for it.
You are raising your daughter right! Kids need that knowledge!!!
Karen says
It’s okay that I’d rather sit at my desk and play with my planner than actually do what I’m supposed to be doing. It’s okay that I watched and tweeted about Vanderpump Rules last night. I totally agree about the Missy Elliot part, she was amazing at Super Bowl. So much better than Katy Perry.

And it’s totally okay that I have no idea what Vanderpump Rules is.
I don’t like Katy Perry but she didn’t stink up the joint. That’s a high compliment coming from me. I didn’t hate the halftime show and I was really entertained by the dancing sharks and beach balls.
Kerry says
I really like the Budweiser and the Like A Girl commercial but the rest I wanted to fast forward through. Is it okay that I would rather e home reading than working today. :/

Jana says
It is always okay to rather be home with a book 🙂
The #likeagirl commercial was a good one. A little too political for the Super Bowl but good.
Nadine says
Ugh I hated the super bowl commercials this year too!!! The only good one for me was Best Buds. And the only good part of the half time show was Missy Elliot. You are so right, how can anyone not know who she is?? For shame parents, for shame!!!!!!!!!
I might have crapped the bed on that challenge too. As I can’t remember what all my goals were. Thursday should be interesting….

I needed to burn the sheets, that’s how badly I crapped the bed this month.
I didn’t hate the half time show and I loathe Katy Perry so that says a lot. But Missy just stole it. STOLE. IT.
Julia says
YES WHY were the Siper Bowl commercials so depressing this year?? It’s like all of the advertisers got together and said “Guys, let’s make sure this year is a real downer!” I mean a couple of serious ones is fine, but it was like every other one was either sad or kind of heavy subject matter. I watch the commercials to laugh! Ok, and maybe to cry a little at the puppy and the horses, but that’s it!

And that should say Super Bowl, not Siper Bowl. I’m such a great typist! 😉

Some commercials were great. Like Walter White. And the Chelsea Handler/Sarah Silverman commercial. And Budweiser always kills it. But the overall tone? SO. DEPRESSING. I get the domestic violence PSA. That was an important one. The rest needed to just stop.
kristen says
I didn’t watch the super bowl but the next day i watched some of the commercials, but i got bored and stopped lol. thats great about your book and everyone not hating it.. now hurry up and write it so i can read it! jk. and yes to all the animal photos! no shame!

Aw, your cat is cute.
I sort of forgot who Missy Elliot was. *Ducks down* Her music was never my taste. I thought she used to be a Spice Girl or something.
Amber recently posted…Hey, It’s Okay Tuesday!
Jana says
Thinking Missy Elliot was a Spice Girl is definitely NOT okay 🙂 She’s not my type of music either but some of her songs are awesome and she’s just cool as hell. And innovative and pioneering and I have to give props to that.
Kay R. says
haha I think Tuesdays are wasted days too I have no clue why! I cant believe people dont know who Missy is. Colour me old.

It makes me weep that people didn’t know who Missy is but she’s also been MIA for 10 years so I sort of get it.

The picture of Boots is awesome. I am a pet parent who posts way too many/never enough pictures as well.
The SuperBowl commercial that actually made me giggle was the Brady Bunch Snickers one. I thought Machete as Marcia and Steve Buscemi as Jan was priceless.
I wanted more Lenny, less Missy in the Super Bowl HalfTime. That shows that I’m #evenolder.
Erin recently posted…Thoughts #24 – Presentation
Jana says
No, more Lenny would have been better than more Missy but still, Missy Elliot kicks some serious ass. The Brady Bunch Snickers commercial was not terrible. Steve Buscemi is always a good bet!
I love pet pictures!!! Share them ALL!!!

There were a couple commercials I liked this year but I hated that Nissan one where the race car driving ignore that he has a son for the first 13 years of his life. What?!?!

i have no idea who’s popular in today’s music industry so kayla learns all about the old school – depeche mode, michael jackson, REM, the cure…those awesome people/bands because music will never be as good as it was back in the day.
