Weekly recap headed your way in a different format because it’s good to change things up.
- We went to the Mets/Orioles game on Tuesday night. After a brief delay due to the threat of inclement weather, my beloved Mets beat the Orioles 5-3, keeping my streak of seeing the Mets win at Camden Yards alive.
- It took us 5 minutes to get out of Baltimore following the game. Granted we left midway through the 9th but 5 minutes from arriving at our car to getting on the highway home was nothing short of a miracle worth discussing because I am old and old people talk about traffic.
- I am beyond looking forward to this show on TNT, Public Morals, that premieres on Tuesday. Not only does it look AWESOME but also, it has Michael Rapaport. I love Michael Rapaport. It started back in the 90s, grew during his Boston Public days and has pretty much reached a point where I get giggly school girl excited whenever he’s in something. So much is the fangirlness that I made my daughter watch the cartoon version of Pound Puppies because he voiced one of the dogs. #sorrynotsorry
- Currently reading an ARC of Girl Waits with Gun which is not only an amazing book but based on a true story of some badass women. I also finished Every Last Word and Inside the O’Briens. Full recap on Tuesday, September 8 for Show Us Your Books.
- I cannot stop eating zucchini fritters. Not even kidding, I eat them every single day. In other news, this is probably why I’m fat.
- Speaking of fat, the husband and I decided we’re going to walk–not run because let’s not get carried away–a 10K in the spring so we started training for that. It feels good to have a fitness goal again. This also might offset the 277 pounds of fried zucchini I’ve eaten the last month.
- Had a dentist appointment on Wednesday. No cavities for this gal!
- I can’t not mention this–Josh Duggar. Oh, my. I want to say I’m surprised by the cheating and the porn but I’m actually not. It seems par for the course with him and probably, in part, had something to do with the fact that he lived under the oppressive rule of his asshole father for so long that once given the freedom, he didn’t know what to do with it and wanted to explore what was previously forbidden. This is not to excuse the behavior as infidelity is reprehensible and to do it in the manner he did is just disgusting and I am pleased as punch that he got caught. And, if I’m being honest, I am deriving some sort of sick pleasure at seeing him and his parents freefall into disgrace given the hatred and intolerance that they preach and the superiority complex in which they conducted themselves. But I feel terrible for his wife. I can’t even begin to imagine the shame and humiliation she feels on top of having to cope with all of this in the public eye. It’s hard enough doing it in private but the vultures are circling and you know they’re dying to see what she does. Speculation will run amok. And, while I think she needs to take her kids and leave, I have a sinking feeling she won’t for reasons that have to do with her faith, what she’s been indoctrinated to think, and maybe, possibly, money. There is no way to explain away Josh’s actions as an adult. But it’s going to be interesting to watch them try. (I also planned to rant about The Fat Jew and plagiarism and stealing jokes and content but my friend Ali already did that and probably better than I could so you should just read what she wrote instead)
- Favorite internet reads/awesomes of the week–The story of how one guy used Monopoly to help WWII POWs escape. This tableware for people with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Kids like this one. And while I have zero desire to ever go back to high school, should I ever need to go all Billy Madison or whatever Drew Barrymore’s name was in Never Been Kissed, this list would give me something to think about (although I do like to think that I wasn’t as big of an asshole as the author of the post seems to have been. #yesimjudging)
- This funny, sent to me by the husband:

No cavities is music to my ears! Great on your Mets win and speedy trip home.
The Ashley Madison website! Hello, cyberspace can and will hold everything you do against you. Justice prevails, Duggars! Holier than thous are not!
Happy weekend to all’
Love, Steph’s Momma

It was music to my ears, too! And the child had no cavities as well so everyone wins!

We talked a ton about how quickly we got out of Billy Joel. We really do like to talk about traffic now, huh? Kudos on the easy exit and awesome for the Mets win! That gains you more of an edge in your inter-home baseball battle. LOLOL
PREACH on Josh Duggar. I’m pleased to see them be the victim of what they have heaped out on others, only this time the scorn is righteous.
I am still atwitter from when Michael Rapaport interacted with me on Twitter. I love him.

And I am still jealous of your Twitter interaction. I don’t care to meet many celebrities but he is one of the few on the short list of ones I would like to.
Josh is a shit. His parents are vile. And all the backlash is completely deserved.

I want to do a walk but everything around here is a run for the most part, I’m not running anywhere.
I now want to try zucchini fritters, I only in the last few years decided I liked zucchini and now I want to try it all the ways!

You can walk even if it’s called a run 🙂
Zucchini is a relatively new food for me, too. I love it now, though!

I love zucchini ANYTHING! So good!
I’m loving the Duggar fall from grace, too!

It is a pleasure to watch. Karma is beautiful sometimes.

the duggars, given what i’ve heard from them, are a bunch of oppressive, hypocritcal wankers. when people are so vehemently against something/someone/some group, there must be a reason why they’re trying SO HARD to look perfect to the public.

From what I can tell, that’s exactly what they are. Also hate mongers. It’s nice to see them getting what they deserve. Not his wife, though. She doesn’t deserve the humiliation. Her only fault is being told to marry into the wrong family.
Tonya@Budget and the Beach says
bahahaha that quote is hilarious! And probably true. 🙂 I feel the same way about the Duggars. I always knew that at some point something was going to come out in the wash, and I have a feeling that family is just getting started. I don’t have any problem with people practicing faith, I just have a problem with smug people practicing faith. Can you image somewhere in the universe drawing the short straw and being born into that family? I think mine are kind of crazy but I’ll take my crazy over theirs. 🙂

I can’t wait to see what else they’re hiding. Because I feel like Pandora’s Box is now open. And there’s nowhere to run.

This was on the Skimm this morning in response to Josh Duggar. It made me laugh. Though, I am so with you….I feel so so sorry for his wife and I agree that she probably wont leave for the reasons you stated. “I have been the biggest hypocrite ever” — The ever-charming Josh Duggar. The recent Ashley Madison hack revealed he’d been cheating on his wife, in between dealing with the fall-out from accusations that he molested his sisters. 19 problems and counting.
The highway to hell is hilarious and most certainly true. Josh Duggar is in a speeding car on that highway! Fried zucchini fritters sound fabulous. I don’t think I have ever had one! Have a fabulous weekend!!!

I read that this morning, too. He’s an asshole. But at least he’s sort of admitting it now. Half-heartedly.
Eat some of the fritters! I’ll have to post the recipe I use. It’s so easy.
Nadine says
Oh yes, please do!!!

Yay for the 10K! Makes me want to set a fitness goal, like a bike race. The hardest part, though, is making time to train and then getting someone to watch the kids on race day. I know, not great excuses. Aww, that story of the 2 boys playing at the museum made me cry! Ooo, can’t wait to hear what you thought of The O’Briens.
Jana says
I figure we’ll send her to a friend’s house or ask my parents or in-laws to babysit. Logistics are easy. The training, not so much!

hahahaha the last meme made me laugh.
oh man. josh duggar. you summed it up perfectly. i’m kind of happy and smug that he got caught and finally the family gets the karma from being such assholes.. but you’re right.. his wife does not deserve it.

I’m terrified that she’s going to blame herself. They have such a victim blaming mentality that I fear that she thinks it’s her fault.
Jana says
It’s such a delicate balance. It’s not like she’s not been party to the hate that they preach but she still doesn’t deserve what’s happened to her. Not like this.
Amber says
I feel for Josh’s wife too. I’m sure she’s going through a lot right now.
Fried stuff is so good!

I spy Ed Burns in that tv show you are looking forward to. I heart Ed Burns. Michael Rappaport in Beautiful Girls has one of my favorite cinematic moments ever. One bonus of not living in America, I can avoid all things Duggar.

Your eyes are correct because Ed Burns is in there! It’s his show, I believe. Meaning he’s the one who developed it. So that’s pretty cool.
Beautiful Girls is an amazing movie!!! I haven’t watched it in awhile. I should change that.

Public Morals looks so good I am DVR’ing it. Fried zucchini sounds so good. I can’t tell you how happy I am that Josh Duggard got his comeuppance. Which I feel for the wife I despise everything they stand for in general.
