This week in reading…Finished Dept. of Speculation, started Forever, Interrupted, and still trying to work through Alex Woods. I want to like it but I think it might wind up as a DNF for me. And thank you to the 30+ bloggers who participated in this month’s Show Us Your Books linkup and the next one is July 14. Mark your calendars now!
This week in TV…Orange is the New Black season 3!!! That is all.
This week in confessions…Last Friday was my birthday and, as you know, people come out of the Facebook woodwork to say happy birthday. That is, of course, you’re related to me, in which case you completely ignore the fact that I’m celebrating my birthday. I might not know which of my friends said it but family? I totally keep track.
This week in things that I did…A few months ago, I was interviewed for Media Shower’s blog about all kinds of things like blogging and saving money. You can check out the interview here. I also finally got myself a bit organized with my library book due dates (no more fines for me) and the Interview with a Bookworm series? I have plans for a spin-off. Details coming soon.
This week in cooking…I made easy homemade macaroni and cheese. No one in my family likes it so that means it’s all for me. Fat girl win!
This week in things that are awesome…and also why animals are better than people. Did you read the story about the service dog who JUMPED IN FRONT OF A BUS to protect his blind owner? I can think of one person I’d do that for and she came out of my body.
This week in internet reads…Scary Mommy was on point with the posts about the struggle of the introverted mother and why I use the f word. Then I read this post on Thought Catalog about 17 things that happen when you’re extremely motivated but also extremely lazy. And there was this post about the effects of fiction on the brain which cited all kinds of studies but really left me wondering how I get a job as a test subject for a study of people reading. And because dogs, especially Bichons because, you know, I have two, I loved this senior dog’s advice to younger dogs.
Have a great and wonderful and fun weekend! If you’re watching OITNB, let me know so we can discuss! If you actually have a life and don’t care about OITNB or don’t feel the need to watch every single episode in 2 days then I’m a little jealous of you. See you on Monday!
i checked my source for TV shows and OITNB is not on it yet, wah! i may have to beg someone for their netflix ID so i can watch.

WHAT?! That is a travesty.
Love this! My voice is so nasal when I tell people my name over the phone they think I say Glenda instead of Linda. My mom made Kraft Mac and cheese. Ugh. I always make from scratch. If I want it a little lighter, I use olive oil, Parmesan cheese, a little half and half, and seasonings. My grandson Colin calls them “other one noodles “!
Have an awesome weekend! Love, Steph’s Momma
I hate listening to myself speak! Recording the outgoing voicemail message is my nightmare, particularly the part where they play it back to you. Sigh.
The meme with the CD collection in the binder YES YES YES
And I want some homemade Mac N Cheese!

I wish I could ship it to you! It’s so delicious and easy. Maybe in lieu of mailing cheese, which is probably pretty messy, I’ll send you the link to the recipe.
Now you’ve got me reading Scary Mommy! I like that F-word article. Scott uses it in regular conversation. Usually when he’s happy. His habit has rubbed off on me, but censoring myself at school is necessary (though I’ve never met teachers who swear as much as the ones I’ve met here).
Also, the introverted article: I’m an introverted teacher. It’s a real thing, I’m pretty sure, and the symptoms/rationale is the same.

The f word is one of my favorite words. I use it all the time.
The fact that I am an introvert is perhaps why I never went in to to teaching. That, and I don’t really like kids I’m not related to.
I totally track which family members did not wish me a happy birthday. There’s usually only one.
I feel vindicated with your meh views on Alex Woods.

I want to like the book. I do. But it’s boring and annoying. We’ll see what happens.
I have several family members who did not say anything. Like Santa, I have a list and I check it twice. I know who you are, fuckers.
Once again you have provided me with at least a half an hour of internet reading material to distract me with what I should be getting done. Hahaha!Kids these days have no clue what the struggle was like with those CD binders!! Especially when you had multiple ones and you were too lazy to put the CD back in the right place when changing out previously.

The kids will never know the struggle. It’s a shame for them, too.
With the links, I do what I can 🙂
These links are going to come in useful as I try to pretend I’m working for the rest of the afternoon. Thanks! 😉
You’re welcome! I’m a procrastinator’s best friend.
I like both scary mommy posts!
We have had Netflix for a couple of months but I still haven’t gotten to OITNB and I’m about done waiting for Tyson to watch with me.

He has exceeded the allowable waiting period so you have permission to watch it alone.
Sometimes her contributor posts are on point! These were definitely two of those times.
I actually don’t count it against family if they don’t say Happy Birthday on Facebook because I hardly remember to use FB to wish people Happy Birthday. The important people in my life get texts, emails, and/or phone calls. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY! LOL kids today don’t know the struggle. I remember those CD carrying cases!

I definitely count it against them because it’s right there, in the little corner. No excuses. We’re related. That said, as long as I hear from the important people in my life, I’m happy. And I make sure to send texts and calls to them as well.
They don’t know the struggle. AND THEY SHOULD.
How does no one in your family like mac and cheese? I didn’t think that was humanly possible.

Neither one of them do. It’s bizarre and I don’t understand it but I don’t care because that means more for me!!!
Im soooo excited OITNB is back on! I didn’t catch it last night but Im going to watch it today! Best TV news of the week!
Animals are totally better than humans!! I am watching OITNB and on episode 3, total binge watching.
