It’s confessions time again!
Last time, I confessed some things that make me angry. I might have ranted a bit. Fine, I ranted a whole lot. Then I promised that I would talk about what made me happy because you know, balance and all that. So while I was sitting in line waiting to get my daughter from school (an activity that makes me decidedly unhappy), I wrote a list of things that turn my frown upside down.
They’re mostly small things because if I can find joy in the minutiae then I can find joy in the big stuff. Also, it’s easier to identify the big things that make me happy; the small stuff isn’t always so easy to find. But I managed,
Without further ado, I confess that all of these make me incredibly happier than maybe they should:
- Finding money or gift card with money left on it. Because free shopping.
- Hearing a song I love on the radio. Especially if it’s a song that I almost never hear. Like this one.

- Meeting someone who loves (or hates) the same things as me. You hate coffee? I hate coffee. We’re BFFs now.
- Getting something on sale unexpectedly. Now I can buy more things. Score!
- Parking in a really good spot. It’s even better if the lot is crowded. I win. You lose. Good day.
GIFSoup
- Sleeping through the night without having to get up to pee at all during the night. Bladder control FTW!
- Frosting shots. Because cake is just something to hold up frosting.
- Getting a text from someone you’d been thinking about and hadn’t talked to in awhile. It’s nice to be thought of.
- Taking a BuzzFeed quiz and getting a response that makes sense. Or is the response I want. Like that I would belong to the Freaks and Geeks clique.
- Reruns of my favorite shows when I am not expecting them to be on TV. Particularly if it’s Roseanne or Freaks and Geeks (two of my favorite shows of all time). Don’t expect me to move until they’re over.
- Buying a nail polish color and it looks more amazing than anticipated. Like this one (Essie I’m Using My Maiden Name).
- Repins. I love having my good taste validated.
- The fact that my most repinned pin is this picture of Wentworth Miller:
Blog comments also make me happy so go ahead a leave a comment with a few small things that make you happy.

I would LOVE to see that. When I worked in an office, I definitely got a thrill out of beating someone to a good parking spot. Put a little spring in my step for the day.

Watching Hell’s Kitchen with my husband because we both put on our best British accents and call everything (including the cats) “donkeys” or “donuts” for the rest of the evening. My husband is a goofball and makes me laugh.
Getting money that was unexpected, like a rebate, a deposit from adsense or check from Ebates. That always makes me happy.

Yes! We’re totally BFFs now! Coffee hater unite! And I will support your decision to buy that nail polish. It’s probably my favorite color I’ve bought in the last year.

I would love to live that Fried Green Tomatoes scene sometimes, wouldn’t you?
It’s a small thrill when someone loves/hates the same thing as you. A little connection that’s nice to have.

OMG, that would be the best! I don’t love my car that much so I’m not necessarily opposed to the idea either.

I love finding money I forgot about, I found a dollar in the washer last night and was overly excited about it.
We have “Bob” stations here, “Bob” plays anything so I get to hear lots of random songs and it’s great. Although I’m never up to date on current music because of “Bob”.
Also I hate coffee it’s smells good but I don’t want to drink it, yuck!

We have Ben and Tom. They do the same thing. I do listen to a little bit of modern stuff when I’m driving in the mornings for errands or something.
I found a gift card recently with around $8 and it was like Christmas up in here. Then I went all practical and bought necessities but usually that’s free reign to buy more books or nail polish.

Love all these! And yes to that pretty nail polish! Love it!
Jana says
What you can’t really see is the bit of iridescence in it. Makes it even better!

Finding money is THE BEST!!! And it is such a good movie. I haven’t watched it in awhile. Might need to remedy that.

Oh man, finding money on a gift card you forgot about? Best thing ever!!!
Oh wait…something being on an unexpected sale is the best thing ever!!! I immediately plan on where I am going to spend that extra new found cash. Defeats the purpose? No, because that money was gone anyways. Duh!
That nail polish color is soooo pretty!
A few things that make me happy? Purring kittens, doggie snuggles, someone guessing I am younger than I am, an old song that I loved is played randomly, not hitting a single red light on a main road.

Being able to buy something on sale with a found gift card would be the best thing ever!!!
Not hitting a red light feels like a major victory. Love it!

I am weird because I like the cake more than the frosting!

My husband is like that. It works out well for us! More frosting for me, more cake for him.

True story I heard skidrow on the radio and it made my morning so I tweeted about it, and they tweeted me back, added me, and just so you know Sebastian is not in the band anymore. I was a little sad but it was still cool. Validated my good taste is never a bad thing! 😉

That is awesome! I think I knew he wasn’t in the band anymore. No matter. Nothing will be as good as their old stuff anyway.

Haha my confessions were definitely of the ranting nature this week so your post made me so much happier! 😀 I too love it when my good taste is validated with repins….I’d love it even more if my Pinterest closet were real!!!
Jana says
I feel that way about my Pinterest makeup table. And accessories. I love ranty confessions. I anticipate having more 🙂

Not gonna lie… I got a little tingly when I got to the picture of Wentworth.
I pee a million times in the night. Super annoying!!!!
