I didn’t want you guys to think I fell of the planet so I’m just checking in with some quick highlights. Although I’ll tell you that depression is kicking my ass lately and it’s hard to feel anything about anything but I’ll try.
-
- Finished Sue Klebold’s book and am in the middle of The Girl From Home. As far as the former, it is the most emotionally draining book I have ever read and the amount of thoughts, feelings, and opinions I have about it can probably fill its own book. Picked up 4 books including The Never-Open Desert Diner. It seemed to have a Welcome to Night Vale feel to it so we’ll see how it goes.
- Have not turned on the TV except to watch our Sunday HBO shows. Not a Netflix binge. Not an Amazon binge. Nothing. Although I did watch the Prison Break trailer and learned that it’s airing in 2017 rather than this year which is all kinds of ruining my day. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, FOX.
- I know stats mean very little but Steph and I had our highest number of downloads in one day for The Armchair Librarians this week! Thank you to everyone who listens, subscribes, and shares. It’s not the most professional sounding podcast around but we’re having so much fun doing it. You can visit our website or find us on iTunes. Also, our next recording involves you! We want you to ask us your bookish questions and the whole episode will be our answers. Send us tweets, emails, comments on this post…anyway you want to get in touch with us, go for it!
- You know what makes you feel like you live in a pigsty? Having a mouse living in your pantry and not being able to trap said mouse. The cat can’t even catch the fucker. I think we’ve solved the problem and while my husband advocates a kill trap in the even the problem is not solved, I just can’t do it. Any suggestions?
- Obsessively listening to this song by The Struts:
- No internet links this week because I haven’t felt like reading the internet (see also: my absence in commenting. Sorry, friends) but here are some funnies:
Hope you all have a good weekend! Ours will be filled with DIY brake repairs, cheerleading tryouts, and making sure Barkley stays on his meds and obeys all doctor’s orders. See you on Tuesday, hopefully, with another round of Judging Covers.

Always love when your new podcasts come out.
I refuse to let my husband kill a mouse when we get one – they have humane traps. We use them. My husband drives down to a field (we live in the country) & releases them to live long happy lives 🙂 … it drives our neighbors nuts that I make my husband do this. I think it drives him nuts too but he married me. 😉

My neighborhood had a terrible mouse problem this year. I got steel wool and ripped it up and also doused cotton balls with peppermint and put it in any crevice I could find along walls, etc. Also get all of your food into those really tough plastics (I have lock & locks or something) and glass. And pray they leave. LOL
Desert Diner sounds like an interesting title, curious to hear your thoughts.

I just received The Never Open Desert Diner from Blogging for Books, the summary sounded interesting so I thought I’d give it a go.

Lights and angels and love to you! As soon as I read the name Klebold, I thought of the Columbine murderer. A shame for that author! Anyway, loved the grammar e card!
Our almost 9 month old GSD puppy has been driving me over the edge and I love him so much, so I should be more tolerant! He’s a baby! A beautiful day today! Enjoy!

Don’t get the sticky traps that don’t kill a mouse but instead they die a slow (ever heard a screaming mouse?) death. My dad did that when we were little and I sobbed all night long. Get one that makes them go quickly. We got them because we had a field behind our house and they eventually started developing homes, so guess where they went?

First, sorry you’ve been dealing with some shitty depression stuff. Hope you feel better soon <3 Second, I want to read Sue Klebold's book – do you recommend? Third, EWWW to the mouse — we had them in our college apartment and it ruined my life. Lastly, that grammar meme about the kinky pirate made me LOL.
Ashley @ The Wandering Weekenders says
Oh man, having a mouse in my pantry would totally freak me out! Hopefully you or the cat will catch it soon! And I’m sorry that you’ve been down lately! Hopefully you’ll kick your depression’s butt soon!
Tanya @ A Mindful Migration says
Sorry your depression is rearing its ugly head again. I went through that last month and know it is rough. I’m here, if you need me!
Years ago, I rented a basement apartment that I really loved until it had a little mouse problem. The scream I emitted the first time mouse and I ran into one another was epic. Thankfully the landlord sealed wherever they were getting in and captured the mice. Max would definitely give chase to a mouse invader, but I’m not sure if he would catch it. He is also the kind of cat that would probably feel the need to share it with me too. 🙂 Feel better, my friend.

Sounds like you need to enlist a cat to catch that mouse! Damn mice! LOL @ the short line!!! I have totally gone in to the mens when it was empty because no one has time to hold pee that long! Yay for the podcast! I love listening to you guys! Hope you have a great weekend!

I’m loving the podcast. So glad y’all started it! Good luck with tryouts this weekend! (For both of you because I know you’re probably way more anxious than she could ever be, HA!)

You are “trying” at life while depressed so that says a lot. Breathe in, breathe out. So funny and true about the screaming. 75% of the time my voice is raised because I’m trying to speak above 2 little children trying to speak at the same time.

We had mice here when we first moved it. I LOST it. Kill traps are absolutely what I use. Every morning I woke up to a dead mouse was a good morning. I don’t take pity on pests.
I know that “feel better” isn’t what will help you feel better, but I do hope things start looking up 🙂

I like how listening to the podcast has become part of my folding/putting away clothes routine…and that I carry you guys in my bra while I listen. That means you are close to my heart.
I’ve got to think of a few questions for you ladies…
I heart The Struts…and you are the first person that mentioned them to me. I want to see them live! I just feel like it would be my kind of sweaty, sleazy rock show that I so enjoy.
Depression fucking sucks. I had a doctor’s appointment yesterday discussing meds, changing meds, health problems associated with depression, bloodwork, etc.
