Me, every time I look at the news:
HOW DOES IT NEVER STOP?!
Because, in addition to the trash fire of my government, we had a little prison riot here in Delaware that resulted in the death of a corrections officer. Oh, and the prison? A mere 10 minutes from my house. And since it’s a small state, OF COURSE we knew people who were in there when it started.
At least I had the news of Viola Davis playing Ruth in the movie adaptation of Small Great Things as a distraction.
Other than that, let’s see what happened:
Reading. Finished Idaho. Restarted The Lilac Girls and The Best of Adam Sharp (ARC from NetGalley). Picked Up Thirteen Reasons Why and All the Ugly and Wonderful Things.
Watching. Did I even turn on the TV this week? I don’t think I did. So nothing to report here.
Listening. No new podcasts that I listened to but I am ridiculously excited for the new one from the Serial producers. It’s called S-Town, it’s a true crime podcast about a small town in rural Alabama, and it releases in March. So put that on your radar.
Quitting. My 40 by 40. I actually quit is about a year ago but I’m now announcing it formally and officially. I’ll explain why I quit in another post.
Planning. Speaking of my 40th birthday, I have no idea what I want to do for it. I know I want to travel. I was hoping to be able to fulfill to-do list item #1, a trip to Australia, but I’m not quite sure how to logistically make it work. I mean, I understand the idea of getting on a plane and flying there but it’s so much bigger than that. So I’ll have to settle for another place that’s logistically easier but I don’t know where that is.
Laughing. Have a great weekend! I’ll be in Baltimore for another two day cheer comp and hopefully be home in time to watch the puppy bowl. See you on Tuesday for Judging Covers!

Ha ha. Font DOES matter.
Serial totally lost me (and my respect) with that sorry excuse for a second season. Maybe I’ll try this new one though?

Cant wait to hear why you quit the 40 before 40… I have an idea because I had a ‘bucket list’ sort of thing too & have my own opinions about doing these lists. #thepressureistoomuch
I have literally avoided all things news & information because I cant handle it – my dress level is off the charts. & avoiding it I know doesnt help anything because the world is basically crumpling around us… I dont know what the answer is.

I love different fonts. I love the tv on most of the time.
I have Sesame Street or sports on most of
The time and switch if DT stuff is on. It’s enough.
We are going on our first real trip ever in May.
I am grateful and excited ❣️Every thing seems wicked expensive but I’m just going to enjoy it and be glad we can go. Have a glorious weekend!

I laughed a bit at the sun and moon one and then fully cackled at the wine one!

I am SUPER excited about S-Town too! A trip idea for you that is closer and logistically easier than Australia: Cartagena, Colombia. I would go back in a second! You have old world charm and history, but you’re on the Caribbean Sea so you get a resort feel too.

The sun and moon meme is great and I’d totally pick the moon too! And yes, people are twat waffles! I had to turn off the news for a bit because I just couldn’t deal. WTF. I don’t get it. I’ve been pondering starting a 50 before 50 list (after I got over my shock that 50 was my next major birthday) so I’m interested in seeing why you stopped your list. It’s 8 years away so it seems both doable and somewhat overwhelming because 50 is a big number and I’m kind of lazy! Have a great weekend!

I’m avoiding the TV, too, for obvious reasons. Also, twat waffle? Think I just found my new favorite expression!

Haha that one with the font matters is too funny, and it really does matter! Hooray for picking up Lilac Girls again! Is that one of the ones that’s going to be on judging covers?
SMD @ Life According to Steph says
I am literally reeling from events daily. It’s like the rides that keep going around and then you throw up and it gets all over you and everyone around you.
I might cross two more off of my 40 before 40 but that’s probably it. The other stuff will still be there if I want to do it!
Nadine says
Twat waffles hahahahahahahaha And the font thing is so true too!!! So I haven’t heard of S-Town but I feel obligated to give it a listen since I live in Alabama and all.
Mackenzie says
I can’t believe we are turning 40 in a few months. In my head, I am still 23 so I don’t understand why I am tired all the time 🙂
The news is making me crazy. Everyday I am like WTF is going on?? I feel like I am in a literal Twilight Zone.

You and I will need to chat after you read All the Ugly and Wonderful Things. I have had a couple of people that I know personally who are readers want me to read it to get my personal point of view. It seems like it won’t hit too close to home, but you know I avoided Tampa because I thought that would. So, let’s chat.
Your 40th birthday trip announcement selfishly makes me sad, but coming to Australia is a big time and money commitment. Someday, I hope you make that dream come true…for you…and for me. If I admit I’m being selfish, that’s okay, right??
I am finding difficulty discussing the daily news, yet I’m conflicted because I don’t want to stop discussing it…I don’t want to hide and shut up.

Yes yes yes to the puppy bowl.
Also, the pro-night argument is 100% how I feel, hahaha.
That font meme is so true…

I was wondering if that was close to you but thought, “What are the odds???” Terrible. I’m hoping everyone you knew got out okay, but am sorry to hear about any deaths.
