Now that it’s fall and I’ll be spending even more time indoors, I thought it’d be a good chance to finally work on some projects I’ve been meaning to tackle but get too lazy or distracted during the summer to actually do. Let’s face it, though. Being indoors more than not isn’t exactly the best motivation for someone who just spent 10 hours binge watching How to Get Away with Murder to accomplish anything. Which is why all the projects I picked can be done while doing something else, including watching TV because as I’ve said before, I don’t think TV is that bad of a thing and you can totally be productive while you’re watching it.
All the projects can also be completed for less than $25 because I am a lady on a budget who also has a child with a December birthday and has outgrown all of her clothes (the child, not me) so there goes my money. That said, here’s what I’m working on over the next few months:
- Organizing my Pocket links. They’re out of hand. I need to be able to find what I want quickly and efficiently.
- Uploading, organizing, and printing pictures from my phone. The frames need a refresher and I am also terribly paranoid that I’ll lose all my photos.
- Creating a TBR jar. I read this post from Heather over the summer and I loved the idea and my TBR is crazy and I always wind up pulling from the front and this would be a good way to mix it up.
- Painting a wooden “L” for our living room. It goes along with the photo wall and makes it more personal. Oh, right. Our last name starts with an L. That’s why I chose that letter. Not because I have a special affinity for it.
- Cleaning out my desk and desk drawers. If I’m feeling ambitious (LOLOLOLOL for days), I’ll tackle our office closet.
- Framing some quotes about reading for my office and my one day it will happen reading nook. I found a few free printables and combined with some cheapy frames, it’ll make for some nice art work. See also: pictures for my daughter’s playroom and my laundry room.
- Making washi tape pencils. I’m channeling my inner Kathy here. But we have approximately 2340723 pencils that are boring yellow. I figure I can make them a little prettier.
- Preparing for NaNoWriMo. You know that book I’ve been working on? Well, it still needs lots of work so I’m going to do that during November.
- Buying or making a wall mounted coat rack for our front hallway. I will probably wind up buying this one because I can’t find a DIY one in the right size, which is why the other projects need to stay inexpensive.
- I can’t really talk about this one yet but when it’s all done, I promise I’ll tell you everything. But it’s a big one.
That’s my grand plan. I’m not big on seasonal goals like Steph and Nadine and some others and I don’t have a fall bucket list like Julia but I figure it couldn’t hurt to have some sort of road map for the upcoming months. Plus, it’ll give me something to do and if the child ever says she’s bored, I can ask her if she wants to help me with one of these.
I always love having a plan. And writing it down helps me feel more accountable. Plus, is there anything more satisfying than crossing something off the to do list?!!

Good stuff. I like to always give the house a little refresh in the fall. Nothing big or expensive but just something like new printables or something new for the wall.
We are not using my reading room as I thought we would. I might just take that down a notch to a nook instead and better use the space for other things.

Seems like in on way or another people are sort of prepping this month for something. I’m trying to get rid of a bunch of stuff, then I might try dating again in November. Hold the phone!

I was home sick this weekend and going stir crazy, so I tackled my closets. Well, not literally. I took all my summer stuff out and brought it home to my parents house (sorry guys!) to make room for Fall/Winter. I also took EVERYTHING out of drawers and re-folded them and arranged neatly. I ALSO donated stuff while I was doing this. It felt amazingly productive and was the one perk of being cooped up in the apartment! Also-good call-I NEED to print pics from my phone, too.

Wow, that’s quite a list of goals. Mine are to keep costs down inasmuch as I have control over that and generally make it through the month without too much time spent in the fetal position (emotional or physical). So, ya know, the usual.

I love your fall list of projects!! I like to do some home projects in the all too when it finally starts to cool down and I can do something other than complain about how hot I am haha. I saw some washi tape at Target on clearance a few weeks ago and I was like…seriously what are all these bitches doing with this tape? Why cant I figure it out?! I love your idea!

We’re halfway through some around the house projects. Actually, we are kind of at a standstill because my husband needs to watch a YouTube video on hanging chandeliers. (Neither of us are that handy!) Hooray for projects and I’m excited to see what the big one is!

I made a similar list recently of all the cleaning, organizing, sorting, etc. that I want to do over the next couple of weeks. I’m trying to actually get ahead of NaNoWriMo though… for years I’ve contemplated doing it but I actually am trying to be done with draft 1 by November 1 this year. EEEP. I need to make a list like this! I keep saying I’m going to spend one week in each room this fall and winter, but I know I’ll be overwhelmed unless I have a checklist in hand. I’m purging and prepping now for a spring garage sale. I’m sick of just giving everything away. I’d be happy to make $100!
