It occurred to me that it’s been a while since I’ve done a confessions post so I decided to do one today. I know how much you all like when I bare my soul about all the little things that make me..well, me.
Enjoy.
I have a soapbox post all planned but I’m publishing it on Monday instead because Mondays are good for ranting. #crypticbloggerinformation
My neighbors who I can’t stand are no longer living in their house. It’s up for sheriff’s sale. #ishouldfeelsorryforthembutidont
I went to Disney two weeks ago and have yet to blog about it or share pictures. I don’t think I will. But I will share that the most common thought that went through my mind the entire time we were there was “just how many people have my fat ass in the background of their pictures?” #imnotabackdrop #ormaybeiam
Speaking of Disney, I really need to upload and print pictures from our trip so I can redo the frames in our living room. There’s no real reason I haven’t done it yet except for the fact that I’m #lazy and I despise picking out which ones to buy. #whyisitsodifficult
Have I mentioned that I have an Amazon gift card and I can’t figure out what to buy? I keep changing the items in my cart because I’m afraid of buyer’s remorse. #thestruggleisreal
I’m tired of watching every penny that comes and goes. I know we’re doing it for a good reason but holy hell, enough is enough. I just want to splurge on some things. #budgetexhaustion
I’m not enjoying this season of Mad Men and I’m happy that it’s ending. #thereisaidit
School is over in 4 weeks. The last day of school is the day before my birthday. #worstbirthdaypresentever
On that subject, I know it’s customary to give end of year teacher gifts but honestly, I’m not a huge fan of my daughter’s teacher and I don’t really feel like doing anything for her. #butiwill #dowhatsright
I’ll admit that I’m fascinated with the Duggars and while I don’t agree with their opinions on most social issues, I respect their right to do and say whatever they want. But the Kardashian-like coverage that a)they’ve been getting and b)bringing upon themselves is making me seriously question their motives. #hypocrisymuch
The Mets and Orioles are playing each other this week. I’m a Mets fan and my husband is an Orioles fan. I told him we’re not friends until Friday and my daughter said she’s ready to hear lots of smack talk and cursing. #werenotbadparents #really
I promised my daughter a week ago I’d make her brownie bites but I haven’t done it yet because I don’t feel like turning on the oven and also, I’m confident I’ll wind up eating more of the batter than making actual brownies. #thisiswhyimfat
The other day, my husband said we need to buy a new hose attachment with a regulator on it. I told him I was naming it Warren G. #damnitfeelsgoodtobeagangsta
I totally sneak movie lines into conversations every single day. #ijustdidabove
Remember when I interviewed myself about my reading habits? I had planned to turn that into a series of interviews and then life shit all over me and it got derailed. But it’s back on track now so if you volunteered to be interviewed, check your email in the next week for a list of questions from me. If you didn’t volunteer but want to now, let me know so I can include you. #booknerdsunite
That’s all for now. What are you #confessing this week?
Linking up for #hashtaghumpday

Oh I want to volunteer to be interviewed! #booknerdsunite!

I’ll put you on the interview list! Thanks for volunteering!

I’m not even caught up on the last two episodes of Mad Men because that’s how much it’s been not interesting to me. Hashtag disappointed.
I’m pretty sure a parent was shooting me death rays the other day. Like, I’ve never seen such a nasty look before.
In 5 years of teaching, I’ve only ever gotten about 5 really practical, good gifts (a giftbag of coffee stuffs, a spa giftcard, a Panera giftcard…). I don’t even anticipate anything at this point (maybe I’m just working at the wrong schools). Now I’m curious about your daughter’s teacher 🙂
Kristin recently posted…If I’m allergic to ice cream, I can probably just end things now.
Jana says
I try to do something practical, like a gift card because how many mugs does one teacher actually need? I’ve never struggled with buying a gift because her teachers have always been wonderful. This one just…isn’t.
These last few episodes are so boring. I’m not even excited between episodes because I simply don’t care. Yet I keep watching because I need to know how it ends.
Kellli says
I have the hardest time spending gift cards but my own cash not an issue, why is that?
Also I’m not a fan of teacher gifts period and don’t remember ever giving them when I was younger. It’s your job to teach my kid why do you deserve a gift?

Jana says
I hate spending my cash, too, on frivolous stuff. I’m terrified of buying the wrong thing so I don’t buy anything.
I don’t remember teacher gifts, either. I don’t mind giving a gift but her teacher this year really hasn’t been fantastic so I’m struggling with doing it.
SMD @ Life According to Steph says
Did I volunteer to be interviewed? If not, consider this my application.
I think if the teacher sucks, F her! No gift for you. I hate rewarding aholes.
I’ve only seen the first Mad Men. I’m not in a huge hurry to see the rest but at the same time I am. I know that makes no sense.

Jana says
I get it. I’m quite displeased with these last few episodes. But I want to see what happens next.
I probably will do something small, like I did at Christmas. I don’t believe in rewarding people who aren’t good at their jobs but I know my kid can be a handful at times, too.
Julia @ Grace Makes New says
I am the same way with Amazon gift cards, I agonize over what to spend them on! Adam gave me a $50 one a while ago that he got with credit card points and it took me like two months to finally pull the trigger on it.
YES to budget exhaustion, I just want to be able to buy a shirt or a coffee without debating on it for 20 minutes and then feeling guilty afterwards!

I’ve had this one since Christmas. It’s kind of a shame.
RIGHT? I want to just buy stuff and not worry about where else I could be using the money. One day, I keep telling myself. One day.
Mariah-Food, Booze, & Baggage says
I can’t leave stuff in my Amazon cart, because then the husband ends up ordering it. I left a mini muffin pan in my cart once, we do prime so we share an account and he just ordered it with whatever it was he needed. He was like, it was in the cart, I thought you wanted it. Some of the episodes have been terrible this season.

Jana says
We have our own separate carts and my husband never shops on Amazon unless he has to (read: last minute gifts)so that’s not something I have to worry about, thankfully.
It’s really been a terrible final season. Very disappointing.

Regulators! Mount up. =)

Haha! I almost used one of those memes 🙂

I totally understand about the buyer’s remorse! I am the same way.

RIGHT? I’m so afraid I’m going to spend money on a book or product and then hate it and then I’m upset that I wasted my precious gift card.
Sofia says
If you need help with the photo printing try nations photo lab. You pick out your photos in the comfort of your pj’s since it’s online. The quality is great and your prints get mailed to your home
Jana says
I use Snapfish but the problem is me just being too lazy to even upload and sort them.

Can’t wait to read your soapbox post! I love a good rant. Yay for annoying neighbors being kicked out! Your Disney confession about not having those photos blogged/shared reminds me that I have cherry blossom photos also not published. I just don’t feel like it and I kinda don’t care if they’re late. Good job wanting to get those photos in frames though. I have only 1 photo of my children on the walls. ONE! I’m also sick of budgeting. Why can’t it rain down fun money? Last confession: I haven’t been reading that much! Only finished 1 book last month!
Jana says
This was a slow reading month for me, too. Oh, well. They happen.
I actually have lots of Erica pics on my wall. They’re just really old.
alyssa says
Oooooh I love soapbox-y posts. Is it weird that I can’t wait to see what it’s about? Also I totally hear you on the budget exhaustion, it is so real! Oh and and I volunteer as tribute!! Books! Fun! Interviews! Yay!
Jana says
May the odds be ever in your favor! Thanks for volunteering!
Amber says
I look forward to your Disney post!
When I get an Amazon gift card, I buy books. Or DVDs.

I actually don’t plan on writing a Disney post but thanks for the enthusiasm!
I can’t decide which books to buy. #dilemmas
Nadine says
I am so with you on the gift card!!! Like I know it is “free money” but I feel extra stressed to make it even more awesome than if I would have used my own money. What is up with that???
I don’t recall ever giving a teacher a gift when I was in school. Either my mom didn’t know the etiquette….or that is a new thing. I say if you don’t like her then screw it! Did I volunteer for the interview thing? I don’t recall. But I am available. Just sayin’.

I finally liked this week’s episode of Mad Men, mostly because of Peggy and Joan. I love that show so much, but this ending has been weird. And I’m really annoyed with the Don and stupid waitress storyline. I’ve been giving Nolan’s teacher gifts all year because I love her. If I didn’t, I probably wouldn’t. I didn’t get his pre-K teacher anything. Ha! Brownie batter the best batter/dough of them all!

I love Peggy and Joan and wish they would show more of them together. Peggy and Stan is my second favorite pairing.
Kara says
Also not loving Mad Men this season. And volunteering to be interviewed if I hadn’t before.
Jana says
I will add you to the list! Thank you!
Kati Rose says
The thing I’m REALLY not enjoying about this season of Mad Men is the sudden inclusion of Diana. Why is she a thing? Her character is boring. Plus why now is Don fascinated with a woman? What about her is drawing him to her? It just seems like so much screen time is being wasted on this story line and I don’t get it. I would rather see the characters we’ve grown to love and hate over the last few seasons get their stories properly wrapped up instead.

Jana says
YES! It is a waste of a storyline unless it somehow manages to tie into his former identity and then it makes sense. If that’s the case, they’re taking way too long to get there.

I did hear about that! I want to say it surprised me but it did not. They strike me as media, money, and fame hungry, especially the last few years. I don’t think they started out this way but it devolved. Their hypocrisy makes me crazy!
Tonya@Budget and the Beach says
Regulators!!! 🙂 That’s so funny! I hear you on the budget, and I’m the same way with the pictures in my house. Some of them are with “outdated” friends but I’ve been too lazy to get prints from my digital ones.

Yeah the Duggars are really starting to get on my nerves. Not Kardashian level, but they need to disappear for a bit.
I finally used my Express gift card, but I still have Bed Bath and Beyond and Victoria’s Secret and I don’t know what to get!

Been there with the whole Amazon gift card thing. Buyers remorse is a real struggle! I struggled so long with my last Amazon gift card which I got from work, instead of buying something I wanted with it, I ended up getting a bunch of toiletries I needed and couldn’t get after I moved to Bahrain.
I keep flip flopping with this season of Mad Men (Peggy on skates = yay! Roger’s tache = WTF), but like you, glad it’s the final few episodes. It’s definitely a show that’s done. Properly done.
Feeling old, but here goes, back in my day we never gave teachers gifts. Maybe they’d be one or two people giving the teacher a card, but gifts were just not done. When did that start happening?!

Me. Me. Me. I volunteer to be interviewed.
I have 11 books I want to read right now in my amazon cart. Mr.C said I could order a “few” of them but I can’t decide.
Confession: I have never watched Mad Men. Not one single episode. Give me about three years after it goes off air. That’s about how far behind I tend to be!
We have two weeks left of school….

After reading the post about your neighbors, it sounds as though they deserve it. I would not feel sorry for them. I have two friends who want to get pregnant but can’t, so I have no patience for people who *can* have children and are not responsible with them. I feel sorry for the dogs, too – the owners should be caring for them properly and giving them enough attention.

I am normally great with spending gift cards, but Amazon has such a huge selection that I always hem and haw over it for like 3 weeks. which is a long time for my shopaholic self.
